One and two year projects must be completed within one and two years or less, respectively. One-year projects may receive up to $20,000 and two-year projects may receive up to $40,000 in grant awards. No more than 25% of the total FGP grant (one or two year projects) will be allocated to faculty remuneration and no more than 50% of the total faculty remuneration permitted will be paid out in the first year of a two year grant. No fringe payments will be made on faculty remuneration. Recipients may budget up to the full amount of the grant for project expenses by forgoing faculty compensation. Equipment purchase will not be funded except under special circumstances where it is integral to the success of the project. A strong rationale for the necessity of purchasing such equipment must be delineated. Attendance at conferences will not receive grant support. Grants are generally made in the form of a contract between the Silberman Fund and the grant recipient (not his/her university affiliation). The contract sets forth the specific terms and conditions of the FGP grant. Recipients are required to document all expenditures on the approved project budget. FGP grant payments are generally made directly to the recipient, who will receive an IRS 1099 form at the end of the calendar year. Grant payments received must be reported annually on this form. A recipient may choose to have the grant administered by his/her university, but no more than 5% of the grant can be allocated to indirect costs and no fringe costs will be paid. Grant payments for one-year project recipients will be made as follows: 75% of the grant amount will be paid out upon receipt of the signed FGP Contract Agreement; the remaining 25% of the grant amount will be paid out upon receipt and approval of the project manuscript and final financial report, as required by the FGP Contract Agreement. Grant payments are tied to the completion of the deliverables set forth in the Project Timeline. Recipients should include their original Budget with the final financial report. Grant payments for two-year project recipients will be made as follows: 50% of the grant amount will be paid out upon receipt of the signed FGP Contract Agreement; 25% of the remaining grant amount will be paid at the end of the first year upon submission and approval of a brief progress report and expenditures to date; the remaining 25% of the grant amount will be paid at the end of the two-year project period, upon submission and approval of the project manuscript and final financial report, as required by the FGP Contract Agreement. Grant payments are tied to the completion of the deliverables set forth in the Project Timeline. Recipients should include their original Budget with the final financial report. If an FGP grant recipient does not fulfill the obligations undertaken in accepting the grant, the Silberman Fund may cancel any unpaid balance and request repayment of all grant monies already paid out. |
