GRANT SUPPORT

One-year projects may receive up to $20,000 and two-year projects may receive up to $40,000 in grant awards. No more than 25% of the total FGP grant will be allocated to faculty compensation and no more than 50% will be paid out in the first year of a two-year grant. We will not support the cost of faculty benefits. Recipients may budget up to the full amount of the grant for project expenses by forgoing faculty compensation. We will not fund equipment purchase except under special circumstances where it is integral to the success of the project. A strong rationale for purchasing equipment must be delineated. We will not support attendance at conferences.

Grants will be made in the form of a contract between The New York Community Trust and the grant recipient university. The contract sets forth the specific terms and conditions of the FGP grant. Recipients are required to document all expenditures on the approved project budget. Grant payments received must be reported annually. No more than 5% of the grant can be allocated to grant administration or other indirect costs. We do not make grants to individuals.

Grant payments for one-year project recipients will be made as follows: 75% of the grant amount will be paid out upon receipt of the signed FGP contract agreement; the remaining 25% of the grant amount will be paid upon receipt and approval of the project manuscript and final financial report, as required by the FGP contract agreement. Grant payments are tied to the completion of the deliverables set forth in the project timeline. Recipients should include their original budget with the final financial report.

Grant payments for two-year project recipients will be made as follows: 50% of the grant amount will be paid out upon receipt of the signed FGP contract agreement; 25% of the remaining grant amount will be paid at the end of the first year upon submission and approval of a brief progress report and expenditures to date; the remaining 25% of the grant amount will be paid at the end of the two-year project period, upon submission and approval of the project manuscript and final financial report, as required by the FGP contract agreement. Grant payments are tied to the completion of the deliverables set forth in the project timeline. Recipients should include their original budget with the final financial report.

If an FGP grant recipient does not fulfill the obligations undertaken in accepting the grant, The Trust may cancel any unpaid balance and request repayment of all grant money already paid.
